Justin is a facilitator and trainer for organizers and activists. He leads workshops on organizing, direct action, movement building, diversity/anti-oppression and story-based social change with community groups, student groups and organizations like 350.org, Clean Water Action and the New England Grassroots Environment Fund.
Justin worked with sensitivity and responsiveness with everyone, using different registers of language, for example, to be able to reach all participants right where they were. His own disarming honesty and understanding of process supported participants in getting there too.
He was resourceful and responsive to the minute-by-minute needs and strengths of the group, and its strengths. When he saw we were open to it, he did not hesitate to dive deeper, evoking energy and awe in the group in his deconstruction of the Birmingham bus boycotts, and what this meant and means for ‘people power’ today.
Justin has the ability and high skill to enter conflictual or stagnant situations and evoke the motive energy, enthusiasm, and native intelligence we possess to move it forward. He helps the group to attain and utter a vision, and teaches skills to help realize it. He is kind and insightful, and responsive to the need of the time. I would recommend him highly.
