Trained first in jazz drumset and classical percussion, Justin Haaheim is a drummer fluent in a variety of styles, bringing the openness and creativity of jazz to all the musical settings in which he plays. He currently leads the band Dig Jazz, and has performed with the Theodicy Jazz Collective, the Gateway Jazz Band (jazz vespers), the Wen Yu Quartet (jazz), the All-night Vespas (folk-pop), the Solomon Douglass Trio (swing), Other Heads (metal), and the folk-rock guitarist and banjoist Scott Classen.

Justin’s drumset credits include the album “Gone” (2001) by Madison artist Blake Thomas, concerts with Allen Vizzutti and the late Frank Mantooth, concert tours with the Gustavus Jazz Lab Band (big band), as well as a performance on Garrison Keillor’s national radio show, “A Prairie Home Companion”. His classical percussion credits include performances with the Dale Warland Singers at Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis and performance tours throughout China and Eastern Europe with the Gustavus Band and Gustavus Symphony (St. Peter, MN). Justin’s teachers include MN-based drummer Joe Pulice (Woody Herman Big Band, Jack McDuff), Dave Hanzel (Celine Dion, Chuck Mangione) and Drummers Collective faculty Peter Retzlaff (Kenny Werner, Greg Osby, Maynard Ferguson).
